State Comptroller General Phillipe Nion and members of the Supreme State Control and Anti-Corruption Authority (ASCE-LC) are threatened with death for their engagement in “the relentless hunt for corruption in all its forms”. On Friday 10 February, the Burkinabe government “firmly” warned people who want to murder them.

Government spokesperson Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo notified in a statement that “the government strongly warns all those people who row against the tide of our people's history and are pursuing the diabolical and morbid project of following the roads Assassination and murder are tortuous to silence the voice of integrity that rises from the hearts of the Burkinabe people.” According to Minister Ouédraogo, “groups of people have a fatal plan to take their lives because of the institution's relentless pursuit of the embezzlement of public funds, the accumulation of ill-gotten assets, the predation of state resources and corruption in all its forms.”
