From 26 to 29 August 2025, a training workshop was held devoted to the fight against the financing of terrorism through gold mining, the trade in livestock and hydrocarbons. The work was launched by Coordination National Commission for Combating Fraud (CNLF), with technical and financial support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The training workshop held in Koudougou aims to strengthen the capacities of artisanal gold miners, livestock traders and of hydrocarbons on strategies to dry up the sources of terrorist financing. In particular, participants are made aware of customs, fiscal, economic and environmental fraud, to the mechanisms of financing of terrorism, as well as legal obligations and good practices in terms of traceability and compliance of transactions. According to the national anti-fraud coordinator, the sectors targeted by the training, generate important financial transactions that can be exploited for illicit purposes.

Forty-five (45) actors took part in this session, including agents from CNLF, ECOFI clusters and counterterrorism of the High Court (TGI) of Ouaga I and II, as well as only representatives of professional organizations in the three sectors targeted, coming from different regions of the country.
