In a press release published on Sunday, October 16, 2022, the vice-governor of the Central Bank of Congo (BCC), Fikiri Alimasi wa Asani, indicated that the Congolese Franc has remained stable on the market& Yes; of exchange in its two segments, both indicative and parallel.

Speaking at the 73rd Council of Ministers, the Deputy Governor of the BCC illuminated the government's lantern on the country's macroeconomic situation. According to him, “The Congolese franc appreciated slightly by 0.003%, standing at 2,012.31 CDF the US dollar at the indicative rate. The parallel seller price depreciated slightly by 0.61% to 2,106.67 against 2095 CDF the US dollar.”

To this end, he reported that the macroeconomic situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo has remained relatively stable, reflecting the efforts of the combined actions of the authorities both budgetary and monetary. As of October 6, 2022, international reserves stood at 3.9 billion US dollars. Indeed, the weekly inflation rate stood at 0.24% compared with 0.27% a week earlier, representing a year-to-date inflation rate of 9.9% against a target of 11% at the end of 2022 during the first week.

The estimates were recalled by the vice-governor based on production achievements at the end of March 2022, indicating a growth of 7.1% expected in 2022 compared to 6.2% a year earlier. However, non-mining GDP growth would be 4.7% in 2022 compared to 4.5% in 2021.
