Abidjan, November 17, 2020: The Regional Stock Exchange (BRVM) and the American Chamber of Commerce in Côte d'Ivoire (AMCHAM CI) have created a formal framework for collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to promote the WAEMU Regional Financial Market to American investors.

The signing of this Memorandum aims to (i) carry out joint activities to promote the WAEMU Regional Financial Market among international investors, particularly American investors; (ii) to raise awareness among AMCHAM Côte d'Ivoire member companies about the opportunities offered by the BRVM and (iii) to carry out stock exchange development actions to support the economies of WAEMU countries. To do this, the BRVM already makes available to AMCHAM stock exchange data in digital form in order to feed its website and newsletters distributed to American investors.

Welcoming the signing of this memorandum, Mr. Edoh Kossi Amenounvé, Director General of the BRVM and the DC/BR, said that this agreement was part of "the development actions undertaken by the BRVM for several years in order to forge strategic partnerships with several organizations in order to promote the opportunities it offers to both issuers and investors". The BRVM is therefore working to attract more American investors to its market and this partnership with AMCHAM will contribute effectively to this.

For Mr. Yohannes Mekbebe, new President of AMCHAM CI, the main challenge of his mandate is to mark the American presence in the Ivorian economic fabric. This is why, as soon as he took office, his priority action was to establish a framework for collaboration with the BRVM following the identification of the needs expressed by American investors, particularly in terms of information on the BRVM market, which is one of the largest French-speaking stock exchanges in Africa.
