In the Central African Republic, it's a big blow for the government. The Constitutional Court rejects certain provisions of the Sango project launched by the Head of State last month. This is a cryptocurrency project that is supposed to attract investors to the country and follows the adoption of bitcoin, as the national currency, in April.

The Constitutional Court of the Central African Republic ruled on Monday that the purchase of citizenship, “e-residence” and land using a cryptocurrency launched by the government last month was unconstitutional.

Foreign investors could have bought citizenship for 60,000 dollars in cryptocurrencies and “e-residence” for 6,000 dollars, held for three years, according to the website of Sango. The “Sango Coin” went on sale on July 21 despite a sharp drop in the price of bitcoin in recent months, and doubts about the viability of the project in a poorly connected and war-torn country. A 250-square-meter plot of land was also offered for $10,000, with the Sango Coins being preserved for a decade.
