Interpol (International Police Organization (criminal) announced on Friday, September 26, 2025, on its website that it had proceeded to the arrest of 260 alleged cybercriminals in Benin and 13 others African countries. It was at the end of a major operation called Contender 3.0.

260 alleged cybercriminals were arrested during Operation Contender 3.0, conducted between July 28 and September 11 2025, in 14 African countries, namely Angola, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire Ivory, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea, Guinea, Kenya, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, the Senegal, South Africa, Uganda, Uganda, Zambia, and Benin. According to Interpol, the Accused claimed 1,463 victims from whom they extracted nearly 2.8 million dollars, or about 1.57 billion CFA francs.
