The course of the presidential election last Sunday confirms that Benin has lived up to the bet of a peaceful vote. The ballot went well overall throughout the national territory.

Apart from 16 districts out of the 546 in Benin where the vote did not take place, the poll went well nationally. The voters cast their votes in calm and serenity in favor of the presidential duo of their preference.
Although this is the first time that Benin has experimented with the election of a presidential ticket with a duo candidate for the positions of President of the Republic and Vice-President of the Republic, the people have shown their political maturity. The electoral campaign which took place from March 26 to April 9 was largely based on the social program of the candidate duos for the next five-year term.
