In a statement, the gendarmerie informs that nearly 690 million FCfa have been seized. And for good reason, counterfeiting seems to be gaining ground and is now at the top of the crime pavement.

"In total, gendarmerie units seized nearly six hundred and ninety-five million (695,000,000) CFA francs in counterfeit currency and arrested twelve (12) individuals. Powerful investigative tools and the monitoring of flow circuits have thus enabled the gendarmerie to neutralize these criminal networks of counterfeiting who are increasingly using digital technologies," the statement reads. Faced with this situation, the national gendarmerie "invites the populations to be more vigilant and a real collaboration, for a more effective fight, by reporting any discovery or information relating to this field".
