This is the whole point of the reflection workshop organized on November 25, in Treichville, by the Ministry of Animal and Fisheries Resources.
The meeting, which brought together representatives of free fish processing companies, central directors and consultants, follows a recommendation of a workshop to review the implementation of the Franc Regime held from 5 to 7 November 2019.
For the representative of the Minister of Animal and Fisheries Resources, Dr. Méité Anzoumana Anliou, the workshop is an opportunity to define indicators for monitoring evaluations of the various objectives of the Franc Regime. In his remarks, the envoy of Minister Dosso Moussa recalled that the fisheries resources sector, through its processing industry, offers undeniable socio-economic benefits.
However, the role and place of this industry in society and the national economy is not sufficiently perceived by most actors in the sector due to the lack of reliable statistical data on the subject, regretted Dr. Méité Anzoumana Anliou. He therefore welcomed the holding of this workshop, which, he argued, aims to collect and take into account the observations, suggestions and comments of the participants in the preparation of the final report of the study.
Previously, Pr. Datté Jacques, Executive Secretary of the Administrative Committee of the Franc Regime (Carf), said he was convinced that this meeting to present the study to which experts from all fields of the sector contribute, will serve to initiate reflections, for a participatory process, in order to create the conditions for an efficient implementation of the Regime of free enterprise for the processing of fishery products with a view to a better competitiveness of the sector.
"We await the conclusions and recommendations with great interest because we are convinced that they will undeniably contribute to giving new impetus to the fish products processing industry in Côte d'Ivoire," said Dr. Datté Jacques.
