The latest gross domestic product (GDP) forecasts from the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) indicate “GDP growth of 0.9% for the year 2020", announced the president of the UEMOA Council of Ministers, Sani Yayi.

the first half of 2020, the Union recorded a fall in GDP growth of 2%. And with the resumption of activities in the third quarter, it increased 0.6%, due “to the public policies put in place by the states,” explains Mr. Yayi.

According to the Economic Situation in the UEMOA Community Area, in 2020, the zone would show a growth rate of 2.4% compared with an initial projection of 6.6%, a decline due to the negative effects of the health crisis on the economies of the States of the Union.
