According to a note from the BCEAO, the FCFA depreciated by 4.7% against all other West African currencies in August 2022. Nevertheless, the Guinean franc gained more value against the currencies of the UEMOA countries over the period under review.

The BCEAO has published a monthly note on the economic situation of the countries of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) mentioning that the FCFA has depreciated by 24% against the Guinean franc in August 2022, compared to the same period in 2021. Indeed, over the period under review, this was the largest drop recorded by the UEMOA currency against other West African currencies. Moreover, it is part of a more global fall in the value of the UEMOA currency against other West African currencies.
