Senegalese fintech Cauri Money is now available in Cameroon. It is joining forces with the local credit institution BFI S.A, marking a new stage in digital financial inclusion in Central Africa

Cauri Money is launching an electronic wallet specially designed for the Cameroonian diaspora in Europe. It aims to capture a significant portion of money transfers, estimated at 79 billion CFA francs (120 million euros) by December 2025. Indeed, money transfers from African diasporas represent a major economic lever for the continent. The World Bank estimates that flows to sub-Saharan Africa reached 53 billion dollars in 2023, a significant portion of which comes from Cameroonians living in Europe. However, transaction costs remain high (around 6% on average), and processing times are sometimes long.

According to the information, Cauri Money intends to meet these challenges by developing an intuitive platform, offering instant, secure and low-cost transactions thanks to its partnership with BFI S.A.

So users can now send money from Europe to Cameroon in a few clicks. Benefit from reduced costs compared to traditional players. Convert and store funds in FCFA or euros. And make mobile payments and withdrawals through a network of authorized agents

The installation of Cauri Money in Cameroon illustrates the vitality of African fintechs and their ability to meet the concrete needs of populations. By effectively targeting the diaspora, the Senegalese start-up could well become a key player in money transfers in Central Africa
