Orabank has relieved the Deputy Director General of its Ivorian subsidiary from her duties since November 6, 2023 for an alleged fraud case.

The suspension of the director is related to the management of an anomaly concerning a cash management product offered by the bank, the smart safe, which would have caused a loss of approximately 1.2 billion CFA francs. The service in question allows the bank, through the use of a service provider, Cashdev, to provide its customers with a safe containing a sealed bag and allowing them to make secure deposits, directly credited to their bank account. The contents of the safe are then retrieved by a money transfer company while the bank remotely controls the access codes, receiving alerts each time the safe is opened and closed.

noted that the executive went through the International Bank for Trade and Industry of Côte d'Ivoire (Bicici), the National Investment Bank (BNI), and Ecobank Côte d'Ivoire before joining Orabank.
