Mohamed Abdel Aziz was found guilty of 3 offenses: “illicit enrichment and money laundering”. These crimes are rooted in abuses linked to his decade of governance, which would have made it possible to build an immense fortune.
The former President of the Republic remained silent during the debates that marked the trial. The court acquitted two former prime ministers, former ministers and the Nouadhibou notary. All prison sentences are covered by pretrial detention except for Aziz, the only one to remain in custody after 18 months of incarceration
