On Thursday 23 May, the National Agency for Financing Local Authorities (ANAFIC) inaugurated a crucial workshop for special delegates from the municipalities of Conakry.

ANAFIC marks an important milestone in the implementation of the agency's new approaches, in the context of decentralization and local development. Sékou Mawa Touré, director general of ANAFIC, indicated that “this vision is materialized by the pooling within ANAFIC of three funds intended to finance the initiatives of decentralized communities, namely: the national fund for local development (FNDL), the local economic development fund (FNDL), the local economic development fund (FODEL) and the fund for the development of municipalities of Conakry (FODECOM). We are aware of the significant challenges that await us in leading this agency in order to achieve the vision of the CNRD for the implementation of the government's policy on decentralization and local development in order to meet the legitimate expectations of our grassroots populations and to improve their conditions of access to basic socio-economic infrastructures.” This workshop aims to equip special delegates with the knowledge needed to strengthen the capacities of local authorities and ensure effective and transparent management of funds
