The 2024 edition of the African Development Bank Group's Annual Meetings opened yesterday, Monday, May 27, 2024 in Nairobi, Kenya.

Over 3,000 delegates will discuss over 5 days around the theme “Africa's transformation, the African Development Bank Group and the reform of the global financial architecture”. Among these, African heads of state, ministers, central bank governors, central bank governors, development partners, private sector representatives and other stakeholders will take part in the event. According to the AfDB, the chosen theme is inspired by the African Economic Outlook 2024. It will allow Bank Group Governors to share their experiences on the progress made by their respective countries in transforming their economies, the main obstacles encountered in this process and the key reforms undertaken to overcome them (or at least minimize their negative effects).

The chosen theme also provides an excellent opportunity for Governors to outline their position on proposed reforms to the international financial architecture and to discuss how the current global financial system has hampered the financing of their ambitions for structural transformation.
