An audit led by the first vice-president of Cameroon reveals an embezzlement of several billion FCFA in the Senate. The main civil administrator, Deputy Secretary General of the Senate Bernard Wongolo is targeted in this case

Wongolo, a native of Yokadouma in eastern Cameroon, who provided the interim administrative management of the Senate in the absence of Michel Meva'a M'eboutou, the titular SG, is accused of having embezzled several billion FCFA. In reality, the parliamentary commission of inquiry found a void of 1 billion CFA francs. Investigators did not find traces of another billion CFA francs, bringing the total amount of missing funds to 2 billion CFA francs. Wongolo was removed from office and expelled from the Senate. Members of his entourage were taken into custody.
