Through a statement, the African Development Bank indicated that the first phase of the project National Program for the Integrated Livestock Development in Senegal (PNDIES-P1) to develop milk, meat and Honey is financed for 39.30 million euros by the African Development Bank, for 39 million euros by the Bid, and for 300,000 euros by the Global Center for Climate Adaptation (Gca

).

The PNDIES-P1 aims to sustainably increase productivity and animal production, to improve the processing and marketing of animal products and to improve the professionalization of actors. For a period of five years, the project will be implemented in the regions of Dakar, Diourbel, Fatick, Louga, Kaffrine, Kaolack, Kolda, Sédhiou, Thiès and Ziguinchor. At least 32,000 people involved in livestock value chains will directly benefit from the project, including 16,000 women and young people. The programme will contribute to the sustainable increase of competitiveness in the livestock sector and employment opportunities for young people and women in animal value chains. More generally, it will improve the food and nutritional security and public health of rural and urban populations in Senegal through the establishment of a control system for food products of animal origin, thus ensuring the safety of products.
