In order to avoid piracy and illicit trafficking scenarios on the seas, the Beninese State is equipping itself with new sophisticated means.

The Beninese state is increasing the surveillance of its coasts. The country has set up a project to monitor the coastline of land borders that has been in operation for two years. After drones, cameras and transmission devices, Customs received two modern light boats to strengthen its fluvio-maritime operations. According to Armand Ologoudou, president of the monitoring committee of the monitoring committee of the maritime coastline and maritime borders project, “as far as maritime borders are concerned, we were able to deploy a certain number of equipment at customs in order to be able to intervene on the lagoon at border level. The aim is to provide Customs with the means to intervene and to better monitor all activities and trafficking in the East and West Lagoons.” The aim of the project is to set up a solution that allows both maritime borders and land borders to be monitored, including those of Hilacondji and

Kraké.
