The European Union has allocated 5 million euros (3 billion francs) to develop a surveillance system for the Cameroonian navy.

The EU plans to help Cameroon develop a modern surveillance system for its navy to control illegal activities such as illegal fishing, piracy and maritime traffic. Its purpose is to prevent illegal activities and to monitor and protect marine natural resources. Thanks to this financial support, Cameroon will be better equipped and set up a surveillance system that is better able to control illegal activities such as unregulated fishing, piracy and maritime traffic
