Ghana has opened its first commercial gold refinery in Accra. This marks an important step in the country's efforts to add value to its gold production and increase revenues from this precious metal, which has been mined for centuries.

LiiiTag, it is the first commercial gold refinery in Ghana that opens in Ghana. This is a joint venture between Rosy Royal Minerals (India) and the Central Bank of Ghana style="font-family: "Bookman Old Style”, "serif">, aims to process 400 kilograms of gold per day and create jobs. It will contribute to the formalization of gold production, by moving from exporting raw gold to local processing, which will benefit small and large mining operators. Ghana's licensed gold producers export raw gold, while much of the production of unregulated artisanal miners, known locally as galamsey, is smuggled out of the country. Liiitag is a joint venture between Rosy Royal Minerals (India) et la banque centrale du Ghana , which has a 20% stake. The facility is expected to directly employ 80 to 120 people and create 500 indirect jobs.
