Since yesterday, Monday, August 19, 2024 at the Golden Tulip Le Diplomate hotel in Cotonou, the 54th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee of the Western Economic and Monetary Union has been held.

Le rassemblement qui permettra d' examiner the 2025 budget, the Union's agricultural policy, the integrated management of coastal zones, free movement in space UEMOA and the Dematerialization of Customs Procedures and Foreign Trade Formalities brings together the members of the committee, experts and managers. This session opens in a context of financial austerity and economic challenges

Par ailleurs, four themes of major concern for the life of the Union will be addressed during this meeting. In particular, it will discuss the Contribution of the Union Agricultural Policy (PAU) to the achievement of food self-sufficiency in the Member States of the UEMOA, the Harmonization of regulations on the integrated management of coastal and marine zones, the Adoption of Additional Protocols to the Abidjan Convention and the implementation of Community regulations of the Union, the obstacles to free movement and the right of establishment in the UEMOA area and the challenges associated with the dematerialization of customs procedures and foreign trade formalities

Likewise, the work will also deal with current issues in the Member States.
