A study carried out by the Center for Studies and Research on Political and Economic Analysis (Cerape) mentions that the majority of women entrepreneurs in the Republic of Congo experience serious difficulties in accessing bank loans to finance their units ; economic.

The study was carried out on the theme “The constraints of access to bank financing and ICT, an analysis of female entrepreneurship in Congo”, based on data from a study conducted in 2017 by the National Institute of Statistics. The results mention that 98.3% of women running economic units do not have access to bank loans, a real obstacle that hampers the development of their businesses. According to Patricia Solange Makaya, one of the researchers at Cerape, “lack of access to credit is explained by several factors: internal and external factors. With regard to internal factors, the study noted that 81.6% of women do not have a bank account and 30.7% of them refrain from applying for credit for fear that their units will be mortgaged in case they are unable to repay it.” With regard to external factors, the survey notes that 38% of women entrepreneurs consider that administrative procedures are too complex. Cerape also noted that 40.3% of these women deplore the requirements of bank guarantees and consider the interest rate too exorbitant in relation to

their capital.
