On Tuesday, August 27, 2024, the Minister of Commerce, Crafts and Local Consumption, Rose Kayi Mivédor-Sambiani launched the Automated Solution for Marking Products in Togo (SAM) in Lomé.

The new mobile application is a digital tool that is now available to consumers and will highlight the authentication, identification, traceability and security of products, in order to preserve the health of all. Through this application, the Togolese consumer will be able to verify the authenticity or even the journey of a product at their leisure, from its manufacture to the store shelves. This digital tool will allow populations to ensure the quality of the products purchased, while fighting against counterfeits, illicit practices and protecting the health of consumers. This technology aims, in the long term, to promote the legitimate economy, while mobilizing resources to be made available to the State to continue to provide public services

According to Minister Rose Kayi Mivédor-Sambiani, the SAM application is not only a technological tool, it is the concrete translation of the government's commitment to guaranteeing every Togolese the safety, authenticity and traceability of the products they consume. Five hundred economic operators are referenced on the system for import approval and 60,000 inspections and market surveillance have been carried out by the competent services
