The Central Bank of Nigeria has approved the appointment of Nneka Enwereji as the CEO of Citibank Nigeria. She thus becomes the second female CEO in the bank's 40-year history.

Enwereji holds a first-class degree in computer science and economics from Obafemi Awolowo University and an MBA from Warwick Business School, UK. She was previously head of the global network bank for sub-Saharan Africa and co-head of the global banking unit for the Middle East and Africa. She also served as an executive director in the lenders unit at Citibank. With a wealth of experience in transaction services, risk management, and investment and investment banking, Mr. Enwereji is expected to guide LaCitiBank Nigeria. through new regulatory challenges, including the recent increase in capitalization thresholds set by the Central Bank of Nigeria
