The wind project is an essential source of energy for around 600,000 households. It has helped alleviate power shortages in Ethiopia, reduce the need for diesel generators, and support economic growth. Chinese companies have brought cutting-edge green technology to Ethiopia, helping the government meet its renewable energy goals. And the collaboration has also contributed to a green transformation and to the global fight against climate change. The Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway, a transport artery connecting Ethiopia and Djibouti, for example, has significantly reduced travel times and logistics costs and boosted local economic growth. To date, the railway has carried 680,000 passengers and 9.5 million tons of freight, with an average annual revenue growth rate of 39%. Wind turbines have created around 2,100 local jobs created and several universities are involved in training and maintenance
