.D'une enveloppe de financement de 42,793 million US dollars, the RGIF, an initiative of the Rwandan government, aims to set up an innovative mechanism to mobilize climate finance & Agrave; long term and channel them through the Rwanda Green Fund (FONERWA) and the Rwandese Development Bank (BRD) towards green and climate-resilient projects led by the private sector. This program is structured in two phases. In the first, it will benefit from a loan of ten million dollars, a non-repayable grant of 5,573 million dollars and a repayable grant of 2,286 million dollars from the GVC intermediated by the Bank. As part of the second phase of the program, the remainder of the GCF funding envelope will be deployed
.The program has two pillars. These are the Project Preparation Facility managed by FONERWA for the provision of non-repayable grants and repayable grants to support green and climate-resilient projects; and, the Credit Facility managed by BRD for the provision of loans for bankable, green and climate-resilient projects. The four sectors eligible for GCF financing, which will be intermediated by the Bank, are: renewable energies, low-emission transport, energy efficiency in buildings, and climate-smart agriculture. As of October 2024, the African Development Bank Group's active portfolio in Rwanda includes 23 projects with a total commitment of $2 billion.
Le programme est par ailleurs fortement aligné avec la Stratégie nationale de transformation (NST-2) du Rwanda et les objectifs stratégiques de la African Development Bank
