The Gabonese government launched a campaign to identify public officials on Friday, targeting 13,000 officials who could not be found during an audit carried out by the military last December.

The relevant census took place last December. Out of 109,000 civil servants, 13,000 are considered to be “fictional agents”. Thus, Lieutenant-Colonel Loïc Ossiba, Director General of Pay, required supporting documents from all concerned. The operation, which began on Friday, 25 October, will continue next month; absentees risk being expunged
