The Gabonese Ministry of Mines signed a strategic agreement last Friday with the Ministry of the Digital Economy for the establishment of an integrated digital platform dedicated to the management of mining activities throughout the country

The objective of the agreement is “to work together at the Gabonese level to implement tailor-made solutions that will assist us in defining the occupation of the various mining permits. These elements are very expensive if they are made elsewhere. In Gabon, we have the competence, the personnel and the intelligence necessary to carry them out ourselves” according to the Minister of Mines, Gilles Nembe. The initiative aims to map, monitor and regulate all activities in the mining sector and is part of the digitization program initiated by the transitional government, which seeks to modernize key sectors to strengthen their attractiveness and diversify the economy. This digital platform will thus centralize and standardize mining permit management processes, while facilitating access to information for investors, and will integrate various online services, including permit applications, electronic payment, and the management of permit renewal, transfer or extension procedures
