At their last Extraordinary General Meeting, the insurance companies that are members of the Association of Insurers of Senegal took a resolution to change their name.

After hearing the Bureau's explanatory statement on the name change, the General Assembly approved the decision of the Association of Insurers of Senegal to henceforth become the “Senegalese Federation of Insurance Companies” (Fssa). With regard to the reasons for the change in the name of the umbrella organization of insurers, some were mentioned in the presentation. It is in fact, “the predominant role that insurance and reinsurance companies must assume in the economic and social development of the country, the proper functioning of these companies and recognizing that several challenges remain to be met to further develop the sector, the multiplicity of actors and the need to coordinate interventions in the sector, the need for societies and eacute; s to act together and jointly in order to better defend the interests of the sector, the particular nature of insurance and the specialization of authorized companies in life or damage insurance transactions”. It is also mentioned “the role of reinsurance companies, the automobile guarantee fund, the automobile guarantee fund, the TPV pool, the TPV pool, the oil and gas risk insurance pool and other auxiliary organizations in the development of insurance in Senegal”.
