Une journée de diffusion des comptes extérieurs du Togo for the year 2023 was organized last Wednesday, June 4, 2025 by the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO).

The day organized on Wednesday allowed the BCEAO to share with the actors of the country's economic life, an analysis of the recent evolution of Togo's external accounts, but also to provide feedback to the structures providing the data born necessary for the preparation of external accounts. According to the Bank, in 2023, the balance of payments recorded a surplus of 53,372 million CFA francs, against a deficit of 16,818 million CFA francs, in 2022, i.e. an increase of 70,190 million CFA

francs.

According to estimates published in October 2024 by the International Monetary Fund (IMF The global), l' economy grew by 3.3% in 2023, after the 3.6% increase in 2022. The international economic and financial environment was marked, in 2023, by a slowdown in global production, linked to the tightening of financing conditions induced by the tightening of monetary policies to stem inflation, to the geopolitical tensions generated by the conflicts in Russia and Ukraine and in the Middle East, as well as to climate shocks.

The real GDP growth rate is expected to be 6.4% in 2023, up from 5.8% in 2022. In this context, the balance of payments recorded, in 2023, a surplus of 53,372 million CFA francs, against a deficit of 16,818 million in 2022, i.e. an increase of 70. 190 million CFA francs. This evolution follows the decrease of 67,195 million CFA francs in net outflows from the financial account and the increase of 48,038 million CFA francs in the balance of the capital account, reduced by the increase of 45,157 million in the current

account deficit.
