The Africa Rice Center (AfricaRice) and the "Growth in ECOWAS" (MOVE) of the German cooperation agency, Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), are strengthening food security in West Africa in the framework of the CORIS project.

30 experts from the rice sector from the five West African countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Mali, Nigeria) where the Rice seeds in response to Covid-19 (CORIS) project is currently implemented, took part on March 27 and 28, 2022, in Grand-Bassam, in a technical workshop for strategic thinking and project review.

The objective of the project is to improve food security in West Africa and to support the independent and high quality rice seed system, which can additionally meet challenges such as climate change and the instability of the yields. The CORIS project is implemented by AfricaRice, in collaboration with the Center for Green Innovations (Pro-CIV) and MOVE projects of GIZ.
