Court of Cassation: Richard Ferrand suspected of abusing power to favor his partner

The former President of the French National Assembly Richard Ferrand is suspected of having taken advantage of his position at the head of Mutuelles de Bretagne to allow his partner to buy a property at a lower cost. On Wednesday, October 5, 2022, he will know whether the Court of Cassation confirms the statute of limitations in this case.

As recommended by the Advocate General at the hearing in June, if the statute of limitations were retained, this would logically lead to the termination of the proceedings. Otherwise, the investigating judge would continue his investigation before deciding whether or not to refer him to court.

It should be remembered that Ferrand is suspected of having used his position as managing director of Mutuelles de Bretagne, from 1998 to 2012, to favor his partner, and the lawyer Sandrine Doucen, allowed him to buy real estate in Brest in 2011 without paying a cent.
