The President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, Adesina Akinwumi, on Friday in Abidjan advocated "industrialized and non-subsistence agriculture" in Africa in order to create sustainable jobs, during a debate on technology and l 'use.

This debate, which brought together dozens of young people from various African countries, is part of the Mo Ibrahim Forum 2019, which takes place from April 5 to 7 in Abidjan, the Ivorian economic capital.

One of the challenges of the African continent remains the technological revolution. According to AfDB President Adesina Akinwumi, “we need to democratize technology” for sustained development in all business sectors.

"In Africa, we need an industrialized agriculture and not a subsistence one", declared Mr. Adesina for whom, Africa which has 65% of the arable land in the world, should transform its raw materials more by bringing value to it. added.

This, he said, has enabled China to lift 400 million people out of poverty in ten years. African countries should create regional value chains, as the continent has enormous agricultural potential that remains to be developed.

Industrialization needs to be driven by energy. With this in mind, the AfDB group supports African States in order to carry out projects in terms of electricity supply, a link without which industries cannot develop.

Mr. Adesina further called on policy makers, leaders and financial institutions to put their capital into young skills business projects in Africa. In this momentum, the bank deployed funds to finance youth projects.

In their interventions, young Africans, from different socio-professional strata, raised the issue of competence through training and values that make it possible to build sustainable development. For them, technology is a source of business opportunities.
