The discovered well was drilled in the exploration of Ndungu in the deep waters of Angola, according to an ANPG note that reached NGOP on Tuesday.
The Ndungu-1 NFW well is located approximately 130 kilometers from the coast, 10 kilometers northwest of the N'goma FPSO - west pole 9 and approximately 2 km from the Mpungi producing field (the FPSO is the vessel exploration, oil and/or natural gas storage and production disposal).
Drilled by the Poseidon probe, the well is at a depth of 1,076 meters and reaches a total depth of 4,050 meters.
Data from the Ndungu-1 well indicates a production capacity of over 10,000 barrels of oil per day.
According to the ANPG, the same well represents the first major oil discovery made in Angola in an already existing development area.
It also confirms the importance of the recent legislative opportunity, with the publication of Presidential Legislative Decree No. 5718 of May 18, 2018, which establishes the legal regime governing research activities in the areas of development.
