The final phase of the 2023 edition of the Afri-Plastics Challenge took place from 13 to 16 March 2023 in Nairobi, Kenya, with 240 projects selected in Africa from 1,141 applications. Bemah Gado, promoter of Green Industry Plast-Togo (GIP), won the 1st prize this year.

The Afri-Plastics Challenge was launched in July 2021. This challenge has already awarded £4.1 million to 9 projects in sub-Saharan Africa. This year, GIP, the start-up launched in 2017 in Togo and which quickly recorded remarkable performances in the collection and recycling of plastic waste in the country, won the edition. Noted that GIP has already obtained several recognitions. Specialized in the sorting and recycling of plastic waste, GIP receives an envelope of 1 million pounds sterling (745 million FCFA at the rate considered).

A en croire l' entreprise britannique Challenge Works, organisatrice de la compétition avec le soutien du Canadian government , this sum must be used to scale up its service in Togo. As a reminder, GIP-Togo consists of operational units in the country's main cities, in collaboration with local authorities.
