In order to support the system for the promotion and development of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises or industries (PME/SMIs) in Benin, the government invested an initial sum of 5 billion CFA francs to create a banking financial institution.

Called Small and Medium Enterprises Investment and Guarantee Fund, this gesture has two main objectives. The aim will be to facilitate access to credit for SMEs and SMIs and to provide banks and microfinance institutions with solutions for covering the risks they take. The new credit guarantee mechanism for SMEs and SMIs, underlines the Beninese government, contributes significantly to overcoming, in this case, the lack

of collateral.
