The latest World Bank report on progress in the evaluation of policies and institutions shows that Rwanda, Benin and Cape Verde are at the top of the list in 2023.

The results published by the World Bank come from the Country Policy and Institutional Assessment (CPIA), which concerns countries eligible for assistance from the International Development Association (IDA). Indeed, Rwanda obtained the highest score in the region with 4.1 followed by Benin and Cape Verde, each with a score of 3.9. According to the report, overall scores increased for 11 countries in 2023 compared to 12 in 2022. Among these countries, 10, such as Benin, Burundi, Comoros, Comoros, Comoros, Comoros, Côte d'Ivoire, Ivory Coast, Democratic Republic of Congo, Guinea-Bissau, Congo, South Sudan, Somalia, and Togo saw their score increase by 0.1 points. Mauritania, for its part, recorded an increase of 0.2 points.

In addition, five countries including Burkina Faso and Ethiopia saw their score drop by 0.1 point, while that of Sudan fell by 0.2 points.
