The family group, owner of the Nicolas wine merchant network, is thus expanding its presence in Africa to 22 countries. And has new growth ambitions.
Castel, géant de la bière et du vin vient de signer l' acquisition de Guinness Breweries au Ghana auprès du britannique Diageo (Johnnie Walker). Under the terms of the agreement, Castel buys 80.4% of the shares of Guinness Ghana listed on the Accra Stock Exchange for 77.6 million euros. The beer giant clearly indicates that it wants to resume its development on the African continent, which with 4.6 billion euros out of a total of 6 billion euros brings it a very large part of its turnover. The alcohol-free beer market has yet to be created in Africa. Castel teams are working on the project. The first launch should take place as early as 2025 in Cameroon.
Diageo said it would maintain ownership of the Guinness brand and other Diageo brands produced by Guinness Ghana, including some spirits labels, which will be licensed to Guinness Ghana.
