This is an opportunity for the Ivorian Minister of the Environment, Sustainable Development and Ecological Transition, to unveil the country's ambitions and progress in terms of carbon credits and ecological transition in this fight against climate change and sustainable forest management.

L Since 2011, Côte d'Ivoire has been involved in the REDD+ process to fight against deforestation and restore its forest resources. . According to the directeur de Cabinet du ministre des Finances et du Budget , Vassogbo Bamba, l Côte d'Ivoire's goal is to reach 20% of forest cover by 2030, to effectively contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, the strengthening of agricultural resilience and the improvement of the living conditions of local populations. According to the Chief of Staff, “in order to reach the ambitious objective of reducing these emissions by 30.41% by 2030, Côte d'Ivoire has put in place an exceptional regulatory framework for the carbon market. In advance, in October 2020, our country signed its first emission reduction purchase contract around Tai National Park with the World Bank for an amount of 10 million tons of emissions reduction with a total value of 50 million dollars, or at least 25 billion CFA francs, intended to reward the efforts made by stakeholders”. For the latter, the greenhouse gas emissions reduction payment program has already allowed Côte d'Ivoire to record significant results, with a reduction of more than 7 million tons, corresponding to 35 million dollars, or more than 21 billion CFA francs in 2020 and 2021, i.e. in a single year.

For her part, the World Bank's director of operations for Côte d'Ivoire, Marie-Chantal Uwanyiligir, welcomed the progress made by the Ivorian authorities. She recalled that the FCPF, with its 1.3 billion dollars in commitments, is an essential tool to support developing countries in their REDD+ initiatives
