The Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) is equipping its subsidiary branch in Bobo-Dioulasso with a modern building. The Minister of Economy and Finance of Burkina Faso, Aboubakar Nacanabo, inaugurated on Saturday, February 8, 2025

.

The ceremony was held in the presence of the Ivorian Minister of Finance and Budget, Adama Coulibaly, also President of the UEMOA Council of Ministers, as well as the governor of the BCEAO, as well as the governor of the BCEAO, Jean-Claude Kassi BROU, and actors in the banking system and decentralized financial systems of Burkina Faso.

This event marks the culmination of a vast project started in June 2018, as part of the implementation of the program to extend and modernise the BCEAO branch network, adopted in 2015 by the Institution's Board of Directors. This project aims to strengthen the agency's capacity to meet the requirements associated with the significant increase in cash circulation needs, in particular in terms of the issuance of notes and coins. It is also part of the desire of the issuing institution to support the development of the banking network within the Member States.

Built on an area of 4200 m², this new building reinforces existing infrastructures dating from June 1977, when the auxiliary branch in Bobo-Dioulasso opened.

According to Jean Claude Kassi Brou, the governor of the BCEAO, this modern complex includes an R+1 building and annexes that meet contemporary standards in terms of energy efficiency and sustainable development. It integrates advanced technologies including solar panels, energy-efficient air conditioning systems, and infrastructures inspired by the Burkinabe architectural model.
