Dans l' intention de mener a feasibility study on the creation of a captive insurance company, the West African Development Bank BOAD and Africa Specialty Risks (ASR) have signed a new partnership. It was in Lomé yesterday, Monday, February 10, 2025

The collaboration between BOAD and ASR reflects the commitment of both organizations to strengthen risk management practices and stimulate sustainable economic development in East Africa. West. As part of this agreement, ASR will act as a service provider, using its expertise to support BOAD in setting up and managing the captive. According to the president of BOAD, Serge Ekué, “this feasibility study represents a major advance in strengthening risk management and financial resilience in West Africa

.”

For the latter, “BOAD is resolutely committed to using the credit insurance market to better manage its financial risks and increase its capacity to promote sustainable economic growth.” In reality, setting up a captive would allow the Bank to retain and manage certain specific risks, thus promoting more efficient use of capital and strengthened support for priority projects in UEMOA member states
