The Green Climate Fund (GCF) approved the project to “strengthen the resilience of vulnerable communities in areas of high climate and disaster risk”. This project was developed and presented by the West African Development Bank (BOAD) on behalf of Togo

.

This project is endowed with 27 million USD (17 billion FCFA) in the form of grants and aims to improve climate information services, multi-hazard early warning systems and local adaptation measures. It will be implemented over a period of five years by the National Agency for Civil Protection of Togo (ANPC) under the supervision of the Ministry of Security and Civil Protection of Togo. This initiative marks a historic breakthrough for Togo, which thus benefits from its very first individual project approved by the Green Climate Fund.

Elle illustre également la capacité de la BOAD to mobilize international resources to support large-scale projects in UEMOA member states. Thanks to this new approval by the Green Climate Fund, the reaffirms BOAD its role central to the development of financial solutions adapted to the challenges of financing Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and in supporting the policies of UEMOA states in

this area.
