The 9th edition of National Livestock Day was held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 in Kaolack. The meeting allowed President Bassirou Diomaye Faye to recognize the contribution of the livestock sector to the development of the country

“The valorization of animal products, a stimulator for food sovereignty”; this was the theme around which the discussions of the 9th edition of the National Livestock Day focused. According to President Faye, this Livestock Day is being held at a key moment, coinciding with the launch of the first five-year phase of operationalization of the National Transformation Agenda

“Animal production generated nearly 847.48 billion CFA francs in our country during the year 2023, thus testifying to the vitality of this sub-sector where significant results were obtained thanks to the efforts made” he indicated. According to the Head of State, primary sector projects are among the priorities of the five-year plan and all the vulnerability factors in livestock farming will be the subject of specific action plans
