Depuis mardi 25 février 2025 s' est ouverte à Lomé la 7th Ordinary General Assembly of the Association of Mediators of the Member Countries of UEMOA (AMP- UEMOA). During these three days of work, which end on Thursday, the participants capitalize and consolidate experiences, in order to jointly pursue the performance of institutional mediation

“La médiation institutionnelle aujourd'hui dans l' espace UEMOA”; c' est le thème autour duquel se tiennent The foundations essentially focused on identifying actions in the face of functional challenges. The objective of this theme is consists in analyzing and identifying actions with regard to the functional and existential challenges that mediation institutions face in the UEMOA space. Apart from the theme general that was the subject of the inaugural presentation, panels and other papers are included in the program of this meeting. These include: “the Ombudsman of the Republic and the rule of law; the Ombudsman of the Republic: a major player in the construction of the rule of law and good governance and the Ombudsman of the Republic as a defender of rights, actor of peace and social cohesion”.

Likewise, themes such as “challenges and perspectives of mediation; The fragility of institutional mediation, what remedies? Tomorrow, mediation: for a renewal of institutional mediation in the UEMOA area” are also the subject of debate. According to the president of AMP-UEMOA, who is also the mediator of the Togolese Republic, Awa Nana-Daboya, the current meetings will make it possible to capitalize and consolidate their experiences in order to pursue together with determination and resilience the path of institutional mediation performance. For her, the role and place of mediators should no longer be the subject of debate in light of the international and regional commitments undertaken by their states. The latter believes that “the challenge today is to mark the definitive anchoring of our institutions in the national and community landscape”.
