This official visit is part of the development of the new Country Partnership Framework between the World Bank and Senegal.
The visit of the Director General of Operations of the World Bank, Anna Bjerde aims to consolidate the dialogue with the Senegalese authorities, as well as with key actors from civil society and the private sector. A statement from the West African office of the World Bank indicates that this mission aims to strengthen the institution's support for the socio-economic development of the country. Indeed, Anna Bjerde will meet with several senior officials, including the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, members of the government, private sector leaders and civil society figures. Through this meeting, the World Bank will reaffirm its commitment to several priority areas for Senegal, in particular by focusing on the accumulated participation of the private sector as a catalyst for growth. The implementation of the “National Energy Pact”, aiming for universal access to electricity by 2030, will also be discussed.
