Le vendredi 7 mars dernier, Access Bank has announced in Nigeria the launch of a solar energy financing model aimed at providing up to 200 million naira (about 130,000 USD) to companies in the health sector to facilitate their electrification

.

The Access Bank program is reported to be part of the “Solar for Health” initiative. Like Access Bank, Sterling Bank, through its collaboration with the off-grid solar energy company Sun King, has granted financing facilities to households and small businesses for the installation of solar solutions. Also noteworthy is the Nigerian government's ambitious plan to set up a 500 million USD fund to accelerate the deployment of distributed renewable energy solutions, including decentralized solar systems

The African Solar Industry Association (AFSIA) indicated in its “Africa Solar Outlook 2025" report that the country occupied the top 5 African countries in terms of new solar capacity installed in 2024, with an addition of 63.47 MW during this fiscal year, with an addition of 63.47 MW during this fiscal year for an estimated total of 385.7 MW currently.
