The press release published on Tuesday, March 11, indicates that Nigeria aims to develop 948 MW of capacity from renewable sources to expand access to electricity in rural areas of the country. According to the director general of REA, Abba Aliyu, the federal state has approved the creation of a renewable asset management company with an initial capital of 500 million naira (about $325,000) whose objective will be to mobilize up to 1000 billion naira (about 650 million USD) to finance these initiatives over the long term. For the latter, “to ensure the sustainability of all these interventions, the Rural Electrification Agency has obtained approval to create a renewable asset management company. This company will store these assets and exploit them to raise nearly 1 trillion naira so that we can continue to intervene even if loans and grants are not available
