As part of its commitment to provide a better experience for its subscribers, Airtel Gabon a announced the launch of its new Smartbox 4G, a flexible solution to improve internet access in homes and businesses. In reality, to deal with the resurgence of telephone and SMS scam attempts, which peaked in 2023 with nearly 300 reports, Airtel Gabon has taken rigorous measures to protect its customers. To this end, it has in particular removed certain functionalities considered to be at risk, such as the rapid return of money via short codes, and has implemented a systematic blocking of OTP codes

The operator also unveiled its 4G Smartbox, an innovative device combining mobility, autonomy and performance, in order to improve access to the Internet and offer solutions adapted to the needs of consumers. This new box, sold at 15,000 FCFA, allows 32 users to connect simultaneously with a coverage radius of 100 meters. Unlike traditional solutions, it does not require any installation costs or penalties in case of interruption of payment, thus offering significant flexibility to subscribers
