The report of the Initiative for Transparency in Extractive Industries of Senegal (EITI) mentions that mining companies established in the Kedougou region (south-east) contributed 147.08 billion CFA francs, including 139.5 billion CFA francs, including 139.5 billion allocated to the State budget of Senegal in 2023.

The president of the Senegal Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), Thialy Faye, was on Monday in Kedougou at the Regional Committee to share the results of the report of the Senegal Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) ETITIS). In his speech, he said that “the data published in the EITI report revealed that companies located in the Kedougou region contributed 147 billion CFA francs in 2023 against 102 billion in 2022 and 76 billion FCFA in 2021; which corresponds to an overall contribution to the State budget of 139 billion CFA francs

”.

He pointed out that a total of 380 billion in revenue was generated by the extractive sector, including 346 billion francs. According to Thialy Faye, “the national EITI committee has given particular priority to managing the expectations of populations concerning the exploitation of natural resources as well as total transparency and to the in-depth analysis of the environmental and social impact study
